Francis Weiss Rabkin is a trans writer of multidisciplinary theater, and co-founder of the performance collective Tight Braid Group. Their plays and collaborations with musicians, poets, and choreographers have been presented in Philadelphia, Chicago, and in New York at HERE Arts, Dixon Place, Bushwick Starr, the Prelude Festival, and The Brick. They are honored to have received residencies at Abrons Art Center, the Millay Colony, the Drama League of New York, and the Wassaic Project. Weiss Rabkin was recently a recipient of the 2050 Fellowship at the New York Theatre Workshop, which produced two showings of their work in 2016-17. Weiss Rabkin’s play Won’t Be A Ghost (2016) received a production grant from the Arch & Bruce Brown Foundation, and was listed as an honorable mention by The Kilroys List. They have taught performance workshops at Abrons Art Center and Wesleyan University. Weiss Rabkin’s first play, when they were 13 years old, won the Pegasus Players’ Young Playwrights Festival, and is still performed by Pegasus Players in classrooms across Chicago as a teaching tool.

Their most recent play, Covenant, has received two development showings at the New York Theatre Workshop, a week long development residency at Abrons Arts Center in the summer of 2017, and will receive further development at Wesleyan University in 2018.
